Composite Forces Report

The POI column shows the name or label of the POI and, for program-generated POIs, it is composed of a span number and a fractional distance into the span. For example, the POI labeled "Sp1.050" is for the POI at midspan in Span-1. User-specified POIs will appear here as well. The Location column shows the physical location of the POI on the box girder, relative to the start of the girder.

The Axial, Shear, and Moment columns show the force and bending moment responses on the composite section according to the loading selected from the Load Name drop-down list. The force and moment response in the Composite Forces table will differ from those in the Forces/Stresses table if one of the following is present:
  • Mild steel/reinforcing has been placed and selected to be transformed
  • Post-tensioning tendons are present

These forces and moments are finite element results and are obtained by multiplying displacements by an element stiffness matrix and adding in fixed-end forces due to loadings over the element and including initial section restraining forces due to time effects, if applicable.
